We are currently looking for a

Product Design Engineer

Job description / Function

To be responsible for concept, design and development of products associated with all Sylvania fixtures brands, Concord, Lumiance, Sylvania & Linolite. Realising products and bringing them to market in a cost effective and timely manner. Employing the latest lighting technologies such as LED. Working within a team environment and within the guidelines of the Havells Sylvania NPD process.
The Product Design Engineer reports to the R&D Director Fixtures.

Tasks:

To work closely and conjunction with Marketing Managers to develop concepts and product briefs for projects to be developed taking into account technical and aesthetic considerations, budget, timescales and manufacturing processes.
To develop and engineer approved concepts working as part of a cross functional development team.
To work with product approval engineers either internally or externally to ensure those products designed comply with the statutory regulations in force.
Use 3D CAD, Optical and other analysis tools to produce product concepts and new product designs in accordance with marketing requirements
Work within project timescales and NPD process requirements to ensure that projects are delivered in a timely manner in accordance with briefing requirements
Use skills and knowledge to produce the most appropriate, creative and cost-effective solution for each individual project.
Produce concept designs, presentation material and engineering drawings as required.
Where appropriate manage individual projects, occasionally in conjunction with an appointed internal Project Manager.
Maintain NPD systems, paperwork and documentation.

Ideal candidate will have the following:

Design Engineering qualification to a degree level.
Experience of 3D CAD systems preferably Unigraphics.
Ability to work as part of a cross functional development team.
Understanding of different manufacturing processes, moulding, extrusion, sheet metal work etc.
Understanding of DFM, cost control and product approval processes.
Good knowledge of English language
