We are currently looking for a

Concept Design Engineer

Job description / Function

To be responsible for concept, design and development of products associated with all Sylvania fixtures brands, Concord, Lumiance, Sylvania & Linolite. Creating innovative product concepts and ensuring that latest technologies are employed. Working with latest lighting technologies such as LED. Working within a team environment and within the guidelines of the Havells Sylvania NPD process.
The Concept Design Engineer reports to the Concept Design Manager.

Tasks:

To work closely and conjunction with the Concept Design Manager and Marketing Managers to develop concepts and product briefs for projects to be developed taking into account technical and aesthetic considerations, budget, timescales and manufacturing processes.
To create new concepts and engineer approved concepts working as part of a cross functional development team.
Maintain close links with “product design” community to ensure that design trends in materials, finishes, production techniques, etc… are used to create innovative, market leading product concepts.
Use 3D CAD, Optical and other analysis tools to produce product concepts and new product designs in accordance with marketing requirements
Work within project timescales and NPD process requirements.
Use skills and knowledge to produce the most appropriate, creative and cost-effective solution.
Produce concept designs, presentation material and engineering drawings as required.
Where appropriate manage individual projects, occasionally in conjunction with an appointed internal Project Manager.
Maintain NPD systems, paperwork and documentation.
Initiate design protection

Ideal candidate will have the following:

Product Design qualification to a degree level.
Previous experience within a similar design environment, lighting experience not essential.
High level of expertise using 3D CAD (UG NX) and analysis tools(Optical / Thermal).
Understanding of different manufacturing processes, moulding, extrusion, sheet metal work and also rapid prototyping techniques.
Good knowledge of English language.
